According to sources, the Prime Minister’s Office had a meeting with senior officials of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education last week.
There is talk of ending the current academic year in December. It is learned that the two ministries will finalize the plan and meet again soon.
Sources said that if it is not possible to reopen the institution by November, there is a proposal to conduct short-term examinations for fifth and eighth class students at school-madrasa level in December.
Later, the merit of the students will be determined based on the results of that examination.
Sources further said that the Bangladesh Examination Development Unit has already submitted a recovery plan to cover the loss of education. There is also talk of an autopsy if it is not possible to open the school by November.
At the same time, he said that the current academic year will end in December. The National Academy of Primary Education is also finalizing plans to end the academic year by December.
According to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, NEP is working on curriculum and syllabus evaluation with the aim of completing the class activities in December. To that end, they have been asked to come up with two plans.
One will aim to start class activities on September 1. Another will have plans to start operations from October 1.
Meanwhile, the National Academy of Primary Education (NAPE) says that if the classes can start on September 1, the first to fourth class activities will continue till November 30. The annual exam will be in December.
The fifth class will continue till November 15. The PEC exam will be held in the last week of November. And if the class starts from 1st October, there will be first to fifth class till 20th December.
